Crafty Hands

16 March to 3 November 2019

Look with your hands, grasp with your eyes: Welcome to an exhibition of the senses! Schallaburg Castle is opening up as a historico-cultural treasure chest filled with exquisitely crafted objects. From inventive tools and innovative craftsmanship to virtuoso masterpieces, each room tells a gripping story.

Gifted hands
Small or big, delicate or strong, experienced or curious … hands are both part of our identity and the ultimate tool. Craft is always progressive, and is in fact more in demand than ever in this age of 3D printers. Elaborately made masterpieces reveal a glimpse into the soul of a craft: What are the components of a shoe? How much knowledge does a purse contain?

Cultural education

Feel, shape, grasp … we understand the world and create new things by using our hands. Discover our hands’ abilities and masterpieces accompanied by our cultural educators.
