Historic Garden

A special jewel of the Schallaburg is the magnificent historic garden. Discover its secrets or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.
The garden is enchanting with its historic species of rose, ornamental trees and herbs, as well as the two orchards typical of the Renaissance period. Labels on the plants make a walk through the extensive garden a botanical voyage of discovery.

This year, to accompany the exhibition “Golden Byzantium & the Orient”, a large display bed presened a cross-section of vegetable types from the time of Constantinople in cooperation with the association “Arche Noah” (“Noah’s Ark”).

During events, the garden transforms into a land of adventure: whether fairytales in the orchard or an adventure course between the flowerbeds, there’s always something on in the historic garden of the Schallaburg.
Shade and calm are offered by benches and the meadows beneath the dense canopy of the orchard. In the picturesque ambience of the historic garden, everyone can leave their everyday stress behind.
